Dollies!

I'm still alive...I promise!! My OB told me I was anemic a couple weeks ago.

Ohhhhhh thats why I've been so tired...it all makes sense now... ;)

The doc loaded me up on some iron pills and sent me on my merry way.

Hopefully I'll be returning to my old self again soon.

Little Miss was invited to a few parties over the summer and I made these sweet dollies...

 I'm kind of in love with this girl's fringy boots...I want a pair in real life...

Little Miss's birthday is this week and I finally finished her birthday doll...

I used adorable Sarah Jane Fabric "Children At Play." The scotty doggie pattern is from HERE. 

My AC went out this past weekend. Of course it was the very same weekend my mom and sister were visiting. Doesn't that always happen? 

So we've been sitting in this hotel for the past couple of days because its about 100 degrees in my house and 100 degrees + a pregnant women does not mix. Today is the day the new AC unit is going to be installed! Hooray!!! :) Wish us luck! ;)

Cloud Pillow!

After seeing adorable whimsical cloud pillows everywhere, I took it as a sign that I should probably make one for my daughter's new big girl room. ;) So today, I'm sharing the DIY on how to make one!

Ingredients:

*Paper (for pattern making)

*Fabric

*Pins

*Fabric pen or pencil

*Pins

*Lots of poly fil :)

Recipe:

Step 1: Draw your cloud template- you can make it as big or as little as you'd like. Mine was about 14 inches tall and 17 inches wide. Ikea paper rolls are perfect for this. You can find them in the children's section. :)

Step 2: Cut out your pattern and trace onto your two fabric pieces (right sides together) with your fabric pencil or pen.

Step 3: Pin and Sew along your traced pattern, leaving about a 4 inch gap at the bottom.

Step 4: Cut excess fabric off around your cloud, leaving about a 1/4-1/2 inch seam allowance.

Step 5: Turn your cloud right side out through the gap and press.

Step 6: Stuff with poly fil until your cute cloud pillow is nice and plump (like a fluffy cloud should be).

Step 7: Whip stitch the opening at the bottom closed

And your finished with your sweet little whimsical cloud pillow!

I made my daughter's cloud reversible so that if she gets a little bored with one side, she can flip it to the other side.

Hello! My name is Stacy and you can find me over at Hart + Sew sharing my love of children's vintage clothing, sewing, and thrifting, along with a little bit of my life as a mama thrown in... I have two sweet girls, Little Miss and Lark, and they inspire me to be creative each and everyday.

Today I am sharing a tutorial and pattern for a quick and easy triangle pocket. I made this floral print dress for my daughter to wear as part of her Halloween costume a couple of years ago, and afterward it needed a little something special to be worn on it's own. Inspired by vintage frocks, I decided to add triangle pockets as a unique alternative to a more traditional square pocket. I think it completely transformed the dress from boring to sweet. It was so quick and easy, see the six simple steps and pattern below.

Step 1. Cut out two pieces of the pattern (see below), fold over right sides together and iron.

Step 2. Sew around open edges using a 3/8 inch seam allowance, leaving a small opening on one side. Trim seams and cut bottom corner off. 

Step 3. Turn pocket right side out and iron flat.

Step 4. Slip stitch opening on side closed.

Step 5. Pin pockets on clothing (if you are making your clothing from scratch do this before you sew the pieces together).

Step 6. Sew around sides, and that's it! You can add a button for a fun embellishment if you want.
