Craft Fail

I'm guessing everyone of us has had some sort of craft failure at one point or another right? Its a great reminder for me that I'm not perfect. When I have major craft fails, instead of being devastated and crying (both of which may or may not have happened before) I try to laugh it off.

Exhibit A:

You are probably thinking at this point... that this just looks like an average zippered pouch. Well, let me tell you, there's a story:

My mom had told me around Christmas time that they had decided to get my sister a Kindle Fire and I was so ecstatic because I wanted to make her a case. Not just any case though. A padded, personalized zippered case, something special so that every time she pulled her Kindle out, she would think of me (so sappy, I know). After looking up the dimensions for the case, I thought: "this will be easy, I've so got this!" I totally should not have thought that. Even though the case itself was easy to sew, me being the suborn, guessing sort,  didn't take into consideration that the padding would take up all my seam allowance and therefore, make the case much smaller than anticipated.

I had a horrible nervous feeling as I watched her stuff her Kindle into the case and could not for the life of her get it out! It was waaaay too snug as a bug and not in a good way...

She was so entirely sweet about it too as she was struggling to get her poor Kindle out she said: "oh it will still work! I love it!"

Nailed it!

I think we have to refer yet again to Ryan Gosling on this one:

Moral of the story is: if you don't have the device for which you are making a case for on hand, go to your local Best Buy and measure the model because you don't want someone getting their Kindle stuck in a handmade case you made.

And if you are looking for a good laugh check out other craft failures HERE because we all need to be reminded that no one is perfect... ;)

Happy Crafting or Craft Failing! :)

Love this- about a year ago, I ordered a carrying case for my ipad. I gave the women the dimensions WITH the case on it, and let her know that it would help to have a tad bit of space in there, because the minky liner would cling.

It arrived. The fabric was perfect. It had handles. It was way too small. It barely fit my ipad without the cover. So sad. :(
