I decided to make our "play area" official by adding a fun banner...
Sorry for the very grainy picture, the lighting was dreadful!
This very colorful banner hangs above the window in Evelyn's "play area" (which is really the formal dinning area). When she saw it for the first time the other day hanging above her toys she exclaimed: "ooooh! I like it!" :)
To make a "play" banner, you will need:
*Letter vinyl stencils- or freezer paper stencils
*Foam brush
*Craft paint- I used Martha Stewart multi-surface craft paint in "Beach Glass"
*Fabric
*Bunting Template
*String
*Any embellishments you may wish to add
Lay your template on top of your fabric and cut out your bunting triangles.
Once you've cut all of your triangles, stencil your letters onto the fabric. Wait until the paint is completely dry and iron the surface to seal it.
Seal edges all the way around your triangle pieces by using fray check or sewing a zig zag stitch.
Using your sewing machine, sew the bunting together by sewing each triangle one at a time onto your string. You can also hot glue the string onto the back of your triangle pieces.
And...you are finished! You can hang this whimsical "Play" bunting anywhere! :)
Someday I will get the opportunity to decorate a whole room dedicated to play but for now, I'm enjoying creating this little space. :)
