I love antiques. I am fascinated by their origin, what kinds of people owned them before me and how they were used in their home. Whenever I would visit an antique shop with my mom when I was younger, my heart would start to beat fast in my search to find new treasures with an old history. I found this little beauty a few days ago on eBay for $9:
I love everything about it: the rust, the color and the overall uniqueness of it. I was so excited to share my new purchase with my mom because she shares and appreciates my love for antiques. She fell in love with it just as much as I did.
Yesterday, my mom had a brain aneurysm and went into major surgery. I was in complete and utter shock. You never expect these kinds of things to happen to the people you love. But somehow, in the midst of it all, I felt a comfort and a peace that let me know my mom would be ok. The surgery was successful but the next two weeks she spends in the hospital recovering will tell us its true outcome. I am so thankful for my mother who has made me a better person. My mom has taught me to look at things in a different way. Some may look at this vintage scale and think its a piece of junk but my mom could look past the rust, the scuff marks and the dents and see beauty in it. I am thankful for a loving Father in Heaven who has blessed our family immensely. I am thankful for my mother's incredible strength and courage and what an example she is to me. I know that through our faith, we can overcome great trials in our lives. Thank you for all of your love and support, I truly appreciate every comment and every email. You have made a difficult day easier to bear and for that, I am very grateful.
