I have one of those incredibly sweet husbands who always thinks of the most wonderful gifts for birthdays, Christmas' and mother's days. The kind of gifts that are so touching, I always end up crying...a lot!

One Christmas, he gave me this beautiful picture of when my daughter and I first met, framed in a gorgeous frame and engraved at the bottom: "Sacrifice bring forth the blessings of Heaven."

I mean can you say waterworks?! Its such a special picture to me and I'm so thankful I can look at it everyday. :)

So as you can imagine, it is to top someone who is an expert gift giver. You just can't compete with that for heavens sake!

And I don't know if I ever will but...I did really enjoy putting together the hubby's gift for Christmas.

A couple months ago, I bought a vintage 1930s Atlas the off of Ebay. I knew I wanted to figure out a way to showcase the amazing maps inside and after I saw this pin on Pinterest, I knew just what to do! :)

I used a huge gold frame I inherited when I got married from my mom. It had a Victorian print with a little girl and a dog in it and when I opened the back up, I was surprised to discover this gorgeous matting that was hidden behind it.

I was excited to find out that it was the perfect size for the map!

I cut out and distressed little flags with dates of the places we've lived and other significant happenings in our lives and pinned them with silver brads onto the map.  Not only was it an easy project but its special to both of us because every time we look at it, we are reminded of our journey together. I know, I'm a sap... ;)

The Mr. thought it was really cool... Success! ;)

Happy Crafting!

Love, Sierra
